What is PNG?

If you know that the a photograph will look okay with around 200 colors, it may be acceptable to use a GIF file format for uploading. Otherwise, it is smart to stay away from a GIF file format for uploading digital pictures from your digital camera.
What is a JPEG?
A JPEG uses a jpg file extension for formatting files to download. JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group and it is often said that formatting a file in JPEG is the best way to upload a digital picture to your computer or online photo album.
A JPEG file format is an ideal way to format a file because it can be compressed from very large to much smaller. This is why a JPEG file is so ideal for uploading digital pictures. Often times, digital pictures are very large files, so when you use a JPEG file format you can compress that file and make it much smaller. This results in faster downloading of pictures sent to others via email or a fast transfer of images when sending them.
One thing to be aware of with a JPEG file format is that when you do make a file much smaller, it often loses a lot of the quality of the picture. To solve this, simply do not make your JPEG file as small.
Free Image Uploads
Many photo sites on the Internet offer free image uploads. What does this mean exactly? Image uploads are available at most photo sharing sites. You can upload your digital photos to that specific site and store your photos there for free. Most sites offer a free image upload service and also offer paying image upload services, as well.
A free image upload would most likely be for a smaller amount of disk space, such as 10 MB of storage space per month.
If you need more space, you will most likely have to pay for an upgrade on your account. You can purchase image uploads for more space, such as 100 MB, for as low as $6 per month at some sites.
You will need to create an account with the site and as long as you pay your fee, you shouldn't run the risk of having your images deleted after a specific amount of time.
